Sweet & Sassy BBQ Sauce

Makes 1 cup
I never knew that I could make my own BBQ sauce so easily! You will want to put this on everything, it’s that good. Sweet, smoky, spicy—all the things you love about BBQ sauce.

Ingredients

3 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons 100% pure maple syrup
1 1/2 tablespoons tamari
1 1/2 tablespoons vegan Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon tahini
1 tablespoon coconut aminos
1 tablespoon molasses
2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons arrowroot powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon granulated garlic
1/4 teaspoon granulated onion
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
6 turns freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup water
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper, if you want some heat!
1/8 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke

Directions

  1. Place all of the ingredients into a small saucepan and mix them up well.

  2. Over medium heat, bring the BBQ Sauce to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring often, until your Sauce thickens. Let it cool completely before using in your favorite recipe!

  3. Your BBQ Sauce will last in the fridge for up to a week.
