A whole food, plant-based diet consists of nutrient dense, whole plant foods; all fruits & vegetables, whole grains, beans & legumes, nuts & seeds, and minimally processed whole plant foods. It excludes meat, fish, dairy and eggs. These things are full of cholesterol and saturated fat which increase your risk for heart disease, diabetes and other chronic diseases. It also excludes oil, refined white sugar, refined white flour and highly processed foods. The idea is to eat a wide range of whole plant foods on a daily basis so that you get plenty of complex carbohydrates, fats, protein, vitamins & minerals and fiber. When you eat a whole food, plant-based diet, you eat whole plant foods and delicious meals created from these foods every day.

Why Plants?

Vibrant Health

Plants are jam-packed with nutrients! Eating nutrient-dense whole plant foods is one of the most powerful things you can do to improve your health. It can prevent and reverse chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer! After eating this way on a consistant basis, people see positive changes in all sorts of ailments including acne, arthritis, asthma, acid reflux, lupus, IBS, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, infertility, insomnia and sleep apnea. They also notice a boost in energy, glowing skin, strong hair and nails, get great sleep, have amazing digestion and they have an overall sense of peace and contentment.

It all comes with feeding your body exactly what it needs

Healing the Planet

Eating a plant-based diet is also one of the most powerful things you can do to reduce your impact on the planet. Producing meat and dairy—billions of pounds a year from billions of animals—requires large amounts of food, fuel, land and water. It also generates greenhouse gases and tons of animal waste that pollute rivers, streams and oceans. When you take animal products off of your plate, you reduce your impact on the planet in the most powerful way that you possibly can.

Compassion for Animals

Eating a plant-based diet helps to lower the demand for meat, dairy and eggs, dramatically reducing animal suffering and saving lives. Animals are much more intelligent than most people realize! When cows overcome obstacles, they are known to get excited and leap up into the air in what looks like Eureka moments! Pigs seem to have the cognitive skills of 3-year-old human children. Chickens form friendships, recognize one another, and develop social pecking orders.

Nearly all of the 9.3 billion animals raised for food in the US today are raised on factory farms. These animals, who feel pain and fear just as the dogs and cats that we love do, are crammed by the thousands into unsanitary warehouses. They are deprived of everything that is natural and important to them—sunlight, fresh air, and for some, even their babies. They live their entire lives this way until the day comes when they are taken away to the slaughterhouse. We humans are compassionate by nature. Can we do better than this?
